I painted this after a rather dark and stormy summer night in the Carolinas. The sun had been out all day, beautiful and warm, but you could see the storm clouds rolling in turning the blue sky into a cool grey. The sun was being covered swiftly and almost completely for what was surely to be, another stormy August evening.
